For Hosting Customers on one of our SQL 2016 clusters: You will be required to transition to our newer SQL 2019 cluster. SQL 2016 is reaching end of mainstream support on July 13, 2021. Over the next few months we will be scheduling a move of your database to a new SQL 2019 cluster. The upgrade includes improvements in performance, scalability, high-availability features, and improved security.
There are no immediate actions you need to take. However, you should start to prepare for the 2 configuration changes that will need to happen at the time of the migration. If you are using the report server service you’ll need to identify the systems and code or configurations that point to the report server. The report server URL will change once the migration is complete. If you are using web services you will need to use the new database server name in certain requests, such as XML Import. You should follow the same process to identify parts of your code that will need to be changed after the migration. By identifying where the changes need to be made ahead of time you can help ensure the migration occurs with minimal disruption.
We will be reaching out with additional information in the near future.
